From national security to gas prices, Roy Blunt works for Southwest Missourians. Roy takes the common sense views and values of Southwest Missouri to Washington, enabling him to give the Ozarks a strong voice in Washington when the big decisions are made.
Economy
Understanding that the federal government needs to adhere to the same budget discipline that American families use, Roy works hard to force the federal government to use some restraint when spending your tax dollars. Working to make sure you know where your money goes, Roy wrote the law that created a searchable database for federal grants, lending some much-needed transparency to the way your tax dollars are spent.
Roy knows that high taxes kill jobs. He is a vocal critic of all tax hike proposals because he understands that you and your family do a much better job of growing this economy with your money than the federal government can.
Energy
Roy has been leading the fight in the U.S. House for an "all of the above" solution to our nation's energy problems. He knows that we cannot keep buying our energy from nations who don't like us, so he is fighting to end our dangerous dependence on foreign sources. Fortunately, the United States is rich in domestic energy, such as clean coal, traditional fuels, and agricultural sources, that will help power our world into the next generation. Roy understands that we have resources right here at home that, coupled with responsible conservation and innovative new energy sources, can produce a home-grown solution to America's energy problems.
Immigration
Roy understands that legal immigrants built this nation. He will work to make sure that new immigrants follow the same rules our ancestors did. Roy will continue to enforce our border and oppose any amnesty proposals for immigrants who broke in line and didn't follow our laws.
Methamphetamines
The methamphetamine epidemic has spread across our region, killing or ruining the lives of thousands and imposing expensive and devastating costs on small communities. Roy knows all too well the toll that meth can take on communities and families, so he led the fight to make new funding available to states to prosecute meth cooks and distributors. He also sponsored the Combat Meth Act, which severely limits meth cooks' access to the products they need to produce their drug.
Roy Blunt Works for Us
Roy Blunt knows our nation is facing serious problems. He takes Southwest Missouri values and common sense back to Washington and works hard to produce solutions that will work for us.
